Reparation Thoughts
….By His Wounds we are healed
Volume XXV, Number 5
Dear Donnès of Reparation, Family and Friends,
We are well into the throws of summer in the Northwest. Though the weather is transitioning, our days are tending toward higher temperatures donned in humidity. Parks are more active with families having picnics, ball games, skateboarding and swimming. Portland has small park areas throughout its neighborhoods so families can more readily access that terrain.
Just as in “Ordinary Time” we reflect upon the Public Life of Christ as He healed, taught and traveled the roads of Nazareth, so, too, these days are colored by the lives of many we meet along the way. Parents are striving to spend more time with their children in these school-free hours, often using “Vacation” hours from work. Grandparents anticipate the time they can spend with the younger population. Thus the “free” hours of summer fly quickly.
Just the same, we are called to make them holy. We are invited to become saints! Living a virtuous life can have its greatest challenges during these ‘ordinary’ days. As I have often mentioned; this is where we put the ‘rubber to the road” so to speak; where we have the greatest of opportunities to live the beautiful life of virtue that God is drawing from within us.
As I work with souls along the way, I often turn to Heaven’s Master Gardener for assistance. He knows how to feed, water and refine the kind of ground where souls receive nourishment. You see, that ground is not limited to space or time. It is not bound by air or water or even the earth below! It is only stunted by the individuals’ willingness to receive and respond to God’s perfect grace.
When you consider natures’ plants and trees, you realize that without a balance of food, ground, water, sun and shade, their growth is stunted. Whereas, God has only the best in His plan for each of us. Where He has planted us, we can grow and blossom and produce! The question is if we are ready and willing to respond to His love and His invitation. Afterall, are we not Saints in the making, and we know there is a saint somewhere in the history of the Church that dealt with similar challenges to our own. If they could remain faithful and get to heaven, so can we!
The Biblical messages in these summer days speak of healing, life, love, peace, renewal, faith, hope, and the miracles of God. Are you ready to engage on the unexpected beauty and wonderment God wants to give you during these adventurous moments? All He needs is for each of us to willingly strive heavenward. The rest of the journey is on Him!
Remember, you are not alone! All of heaven is encouraging you onward. Praised be Jesus Christ for suffering to open those Gates of Paradise and giving us everything necessary to join Him there!
