Reparation Thoughts

….By His Wounds we are healed

Volume XXV, Number 6

Dear Donnès of Reparation, Family and Friends,

The rapidness of time has opened our days into the Season of Fall. It is easy to catch a tree in its transformation—a little tired of summer’s heat and ready to allow its leaves to turn with the cooler nights. Garden plants are nearing their demise and the color of vegetables on the table are changing. It is a beautiful time of year.

Squirrels, crows and multiple kinds of birds seem to be snatching up treats for winter storage. Even the clouds in the sky form differently as the autumn winds carry them onward. When numbers of people gather, they check out the weather to decide plans for the day. In the early morning, more jackets and sweaters have become the normal attire. It is time for change.

Natural changes often reflect timing for Spiritual growth. We are on a journey to Heaven and every day we are challenged to walk a new path or to continue further on the path we have been travelling. None-the-less, God is calling us closer to Himself and to all that is holy.

Psalms 139 reflects this and is one of my favorites as beautifully translated by Bernadette Farrell:

O God, You search me and you know me. All my thoughts lie open to Your gaze.

When I walk or lie down You are beside me: ever the Maker and Keeper of my days.

You know my resting and my rising. You discern my purpose from afar,

And with love everlasting You besiege me: In every moment of life or death You are.

Before a word is on my tongue, Lord, You have known its meaning through and through.

You are with me beyond my understanding: God of my present, my past and future, too.

Although Your Spirit is upon me, Still I search for shelter from Your light.

There is nowhere on earth I can escape You: Even the darkness is radiant in Your sight.

For You created me and shaped me, Gave me life within my mother’s womb.

For the wonder of who I am, I praise You: Safe in Your hands, all creation is made new.

God has us in His keeping. He desires only good for us. Our part is to strive to stay in the state of Grace, frequent the Sacraments and endeavor to be His son or daughter every moment of every day.

There are many forces in the world wishing to discourage us and deceive us on this journey to truth. Regular prayer, small sacrifices, and steadfastness toward the heavenly goal will help guide the way.

This earthly life is passing but Heaven is for eternity. The best is yet to come. Our loved ones who have gone before us are awaiting us in God’s perfect time. In the meantime, let us continue to support each other through prayer and loving kindness. May your heart be filled with joy and peace today!
