Reparation Thoughts

….By His Wounds we are healed

Volume XXV, Number 3

Dear Donnès of Reparation, Family and Friends,

Happy Easter! How blessed we are to be able to continue this celebration in the weeks ahead. As Catholic Christians we know the glory has just begun. We have completed the Triduum for which we spent forty days in preparation and now we know Jesus has risen indeed!

Glorious white and gold banners, vestments, Tabernacle covers, and décor will greet us in our Churches to symbolize the glory of these holy days. The promise of resurrection and eternal life are ours to embrace. Hope springs eternal! Joy resounds! Peace fills our hearts and souls!

This is one of the reasons I so enjoy participating in the Spring Sharathon at Mater Dei Radio. It is a time when one can share His joy and hope over the invisible radio waves that reach so much further than natural communication can do. It is an opportunity to openly support the messages of our faith and help to provide financial assistance to this very worthy ministry. You know, our community members were present with Bishop Waldschmidt at the groundbreaking of this Catholic Radio Station and have supported it from its inception. If you support Catholic Radio, please call in between 8AM and 9AM on Thursday, April 23rd. (1-888-823-5286 or 503-285-5200).

Our Serafic Father, St. Francis would tell his Friars to “Go and preach to the ends of the world! And if you have to, use words!” This Easter message, this promise and hope of eternal life must be preached by all of us who believe. Are we doing this? If we were taken to court, could they find us guilty of being active, practicing, living, loving Catholic Christians? I must ask myself this question periodically to make sure that I am staying on the straight and narrow path that God has directed me to follow. I know that following only partially is not a choice. We are either For Christ or Against Him; there is no other choice!

Long ago, when Jesus walked the earth, the people chose to Crucify Him. “They shouted the louder, “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!”’ This Reparation Community is called by its very nature and purpose, to “Comfort Him! Give Him your love! Let your presence bring healing!” This is our call, our purpose! Wherever we find Christ in our Churches, Chapels, homes, among strangers, friends, those we serve—we must bring Him comfort and love! We have been given the talents and gifts and capacity to complete this very mission.

When Pentecost arrives, fifty days after Easter, we will once again renew those promises and commitments for Jesus has chosen us for his own. May the richness of Easter fill your hearts and your homes in the meantime!
