Reparation Thoughts

….By His Wounds we are healed

Volume XXIV, Number 8

Dear Donnès of Reparation, Family and Friends,

On the 26th of this month, we honor Saints Anne and Joachim the parents of Mary and Grandparents of Jesus. St. Anne is a patroness of Canada. There is a huge basilica in Quebec honoring St. Anne. Mother Therese was a guest artist there on many occasions. Part of her experience was travelling with Patrick O’Grady by train as he took hundreds of people with disabilities on pilgrimage to national shrines pleading the saints for healing. Many received extraordinary blessings and as you visit these basilicas, you can see the high walls lined with crutches, canes, wheelchairs, walkers, and casts that were left behind after a healing event. Mother Therese was witness to many of these extraordinary blessings. She personally had a great devotion to Saints Anne and Joachim. I can still hear in my mind how beautifully she sang “Viva Saint Anne” in French and English.

We honor the Transfiguration of Jesus on August 6th and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15th. The latter, of course, is a Holy Day of Obligation.

Other community days to remember: August 19th is the Anniversary of death of Sister Anne Joseph who died in 2007. August 22nd, the Queenship of Mary, is the Feast Day celebrated by Mother Regina Rose.  August 25th was the birthday of Mother Therese. Now, as part of our Reparation life, we do not celebrate our birthday. However, God celebrated the birthday of Mother Therese with several important occasions for our Community. He seemed to especially honor her lifetime offering to Him when she left her professional life and family to lead this Reparation Community. God bless God!

Many other great saints stand out in this month including Dominic, Alphonsus Liguori, Augustine and Monica, John Eudes, John Vianney, Maximillian Kolbe, Pius X, Bernard and the Passion of St. John the Baptist. So fruitful are their examples for us on our journey to holiness!

Our Faith is so rich and abounding! We have the stabilization of the Sacraments, Daily Mass, Prayers, Sacramentals and Documents to guide us each day. There is a saint to help in any circumstance we might encounter. We know, without question, that God’s grace is sufficient to guide us along.

The key to an open door for all these benefits is our free will coupled with appropriate actions to keep us in that State of Grace. Summertime is a wonderful opportunity to step back a bit and analyze where we are going in our relationship with the Lord. The question remains if we are willing to take the steps necessary for this grace to abound within us. All that is worth cherishing begins in our heart and soul!
