Reparation Thoughts
….By His Wounds we are healed
Volume XXV, Number 1
Dear Donnès of Reparation, Family and Friends,
We know that God is with us always. His Being remains in our minds and hearts because we have not physically seen Him as He really is. However, He most certainly makes Himself known to us in varied and wondrous ways.
I was accompanying at Church this week, where a delightful family of parents with three small children were clearly in sight. While Mass was underway, Mom was praying and listening and caring for the tiniest infant. Their older daughter was following the Liturgy. Next to dad was a boy around the age of two who had a small orange car in his possession. He played with his vehicle very quietly. He would try to get it to run on the seat of the pew when dad suddenly moved it to a better spot. He ran it along the top of the kneeler and Dad lifted it to a different place. He moved over to Mom and tried to run it on her thigh. Dad was quick to divert it elsewhere. Not a sound was heard. The boy never cried or fussed but just kept intently occupied. All the while, Dad was listening and responding to the Mass.
In my mind’s eye, I could see in this father, God the Father as He lovingly cares for us. We come in harm’s way and He diverts us elsewhere. We tread where Angels fear to trod, and He changes our direction. We can trust this implicitly if we frequent the Sacraments and strive to remain in the State of Grace. God desires that we spend eternity with Him and all that is holy in Heaven. Whatever is necessary He will shed upon us toward that beautiful, loving plan.
This sweet family spoke volumes to me without saying a single word. Mom and Dad worked in peaceful, loving cohesion. The children were safe and happy in their care. God was all-important in their relationship, and they obviously frequented the Mass! They understood where the true treasures and necessities of life could be found.
This is why we are fervently and frequently called to pray:
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come! Thy Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory are Yours, now and forever. Amen!
Let us with hearts undefiled, celebrate our God of Love, our God of Creation, Our Father in Heaven! Let us sing and never cease to the God of everlasting peace!
