Reparation Thoughts

….By His Wounds we are healed

Volume XXIV, Number 5

Dear Donnès of Reparation, Family and Friends,

Blessings upon this Resurrection Tide! Yes, we continue celebrating the great Easter event which extends in season until Pentecost. The Church honors the full fifty days keeping it in cohesion with the first Resurrection Day and the events that followed. In a spiritual manner we re-trace those steps taken over 2000 years ago because He is Risen! He is alive! What glory fills our lives and our homes as these blessed days unfold!

God placed them in the Springtime of the year so that even nature conforms to the occasion. Here in the Northwest color bedecks the land everywhere. One kind of bulb sheds its flower, and another has already taken on the beautiful array. Bushes add luster to the scene and trees are completely dressed in blossoms. Life abounds to remind us of the Life of Christ in resurrected glory. This is our promise for remaining faithful to His teachings, His Word and His truth!

In our churches, Easter lilies continue to surround the Tabernacle and Altar. The priest wears white like the glory seen on the Risen Lord. Music is filled with Alleluia messages and the story of this wonderful season. The Tomb is found empty. An angel clad in white asks why they are looking for Him there? Thomas doubts until he sees and touches the wounds of his Lord fully alive. The message of Jesus’ rising is carried everywhere, and disciples believe! The apostles are sent from village to village to spread the good news. Yet, they fear and need the coming of the Holy Spirit with His seven gifts and twelve fruits to give them courage.

This sounds familiar, doesn’t it? We have been nourished with the Holy Eucharist just like them. We have been armed with the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit through Confirmation and yet we often fear and avoid living the truth of the His Word with courage and boldness.

In this month of May, we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary, Jesus’s Mother. Against all odds, she remained full of the grace God had given her. She gave her Fiat and said: “Be it done unto me according to Thy Word”. She never faltered or redirected that gift of Free Will and endured all that God asked of her.

Mary is there to help guide us along the way. She is our mother, as well. As we encounter each day, Mary would say: “Do whatever He tells you”. Let us listen to His message and respond in grace and hope, for Jesus desires only goodness and eventual Paradise for each of us!
